Through clubs and lunchrooms, Islam is gaining ground in Forsyth County schools.

Muslim Student Associations of Forsyth County

Last week, Alliance Academy for Innovation proudly posted on their Facebook page that the Muslim Student Association of Alliance Academy participated in the Muslim Interscholastic Tournament over at Kennesaw State University.

If you are like most of Forsyth County, you had no idea Muslim clubs existed in our taxpayer-funded public schools. There are currently six Forsyth County schools with active Muslim Student Associations: Alliance Academy for Innovation, Denmark High School, Forsyth Central High School, Lambert High School, South Forsyth High School, and West Forsyth High School. Some schools even provide a prayer room where students can get a pass to miss class for Muslim prayer.

Muslim Student Association

The Muslim Student Association, or MSA, is a club centered on Muslim identity, community, and religious life. MSAs commonly support Muslim students through fellowship, discussions of Islam, service, cultural events, and outreach to non-Muslim students. MSA National describes its mission in explicitly Islamic terms, including character development (tarbiyyah), inviting others toward the practice of Islam (da’wah), and creating a movement “rooted in deen”. Deen is the comprehensive, all-encompassing system of life for a Muslim, with Sharia law being the path to live out deen.

The Muslim Student Association was founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist organization with a history of terrorism that has been banned in multiple countries. The Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, also supports the Muslim Student Association and has been accused of terrorist ties.

Muslim Interscholastic Tournament

The Muslim Interscholastic Tournament, or MIST, is a regional and national competition program for high school students, combining academics, arts, public speaking, and team events with Islamic education and identity formation. MIST says its programming helps students compete and develop skills while educating them about Islam and Muslims, and encouraging students to embrace their Muslim identity. Through faculty sponsorship, use of school facilities, administrative and communications support, bus transportation to and from events, and many other forms of support, our tax dollars are paying to promote Islam through these organizations.

Sharia Law in the Lunchroom

Muslim Student Associations are not the only place Islam is gaining a foothold in Forsyth County Schools. Halal food is now being served in our school lunchrooms. You might expect this in some of the more foreign-populated schools on the south end of the county, but Halal is being served all over. Let's look at the lunch menu at Silver City Elementary in north Forsyth. On this December 2024 menu, Halal cheeseburgers were served alongside traditional American cheeseburgers.

What is Halal?

The term Halal refers to anything that is acceptable for a Muslim to eat, do, or otherwise engage in, as outlined by Sharia law. For meat, including cheeseburgers, to be considered Halal, there are very specific guidelines defined by Sharia, including killing the animal in the name of Allah:

  • The slaughterman must be a Muslim.
  • Prior to slaughter, the slaughterman must invoke the name of Allah upon the animal to be slaughtered by reciting “Bismillahi Allahu Akbar” or, at the very least, recite “Bismillah.”
  • He must immediately slaughter the animal after the recital without any significant delay.
  • His knife must be extremely sharp so the slaughter may be conducted efficiently and easily, and the animal suffers minimal agony.
  • He must sever the following arteries: trachea (windpipe), esophagus (gullet), and both jugular veins. If it is not possible for the slaughterman to cut all four arteries for whatever reason, then he must sever at least three in order to render the meat Halal.
  • He must conduct the slaughter manually (i.e. by hand) and swiftly. The knife must not be lifted before the cut is complete, and the cut must be below the Adam’s apple.

Forsyth County schools are paying to support Islamic food vendors who slaughter animals in the name of Allah.

Considering the process, in order to procure certified Halal meat, Forsyth County schools are paying to support Islamic food vendors who slaughter animals in the name of Allah. There is no doubt that extra expense is involved compared to procuring a standard beef patty. Why are we supporting Islamic food vendors with our tax dollars and paying extra on top of that?

Our Christian Heritage

Most of us remember September 11, 2001. Forsyth County is a long way from New York City, but as Americans, we all remember the shock, fear, and bewilderment of that day. Just in case you weren't around, a group of Muslims conspired and carried out the largest terrorist attack in American history that day. Back then, if we were told that 25 years later our public school tax dollars would be funding Muslim clubs and Sharia law in our own Forsyth County schools, nobody would believe it.

Forsyth County is a Christian community. Islam is an imported religion that is fundamentally opposed to Christianity. If you haven't noticed, we have a church on every corner, not a mosque. Those are undeniable historical facts.

As Christians, we believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God and the only way to God. We pray that all people, including current Muslims, come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

As responsible parents and grandparents, we are also aware that Islam is oppressive, violent, and incompatible with our Christian heritage and Western values.

History has proven time and again that Islam is a religion of conquest. Clubs and cheeseburgers may seem innocent now, but that's part of the game plan. The goal of groups like the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR is to desensitize and manipulate naive Americans until they gain enough support to ultimately institute Sharia law in our communities. As believers and defenders of freedom and individual liberty, we need to speak up and let our school board and staff know that we do not agree with Islam being supported and promoted in our schools.
